EDINBURGH'S HOGMANAY WARN AGAINST TICKET TOUTS

Organisers of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay are warning the public against paying inflated prices for tickets on internet auction sites. Organisers are urging people to purchase tickets and passes through official channels after reports that outlets such as e-bay and Gumtree are selling passes at heavily inflated prices while these are still available on general sale.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals Champion, welcomed the initiative by saying,
“It’s not easy to regulate the unofficial sale for passes and tickets for something as popular as Edinburgh’s Hogmanay but I would encourage people to secure their passes or tickets through official channels, as, most importantly, you will pay the actual cost and not the inflated prices which are listed on some of these sites. There are still tickets available for our various events, rter Novelli, Tel: 0131 470 3400including some for the ever-popular Concert in the Gardens and the Street Party. Buying from the official Edinburgh's Hogmanay website or through the box office also prevents the risk of receiving forged passes or tickets."

JP Murphy, Marketing & Communications Manager, Edinburgh’s Winter Festivals added
"We are concerned that purchasers from the auction sites are being ripped off with vastly inflated prices and misleading ticket information. We have been in contact with many of these sites to make sure any listings are accurate and we restrict passes and tickets to four per person and four per credit card to discourage touting as much as we can. However, the public shouldn't fooled: tickets and passes remain available through www.edinburghshogmanay.com and at our box office, and the official website is the best place to get accurate and honest information on Edinburgh's Hogmanay. Don’t pay over the odds."

Tickets to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Concert in the Garden (non- enclosure £37.50), Ceilidh in the Gardens (£37.50), the Hoog & Hoog Royale (£50 & £60) and passes for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party (£5) are all still available online at www.edinburghshogmanay.com, from the Box Office at 127 Rose Street or by telephone 08700 40 40 10.
