Dornoch's family-friendly Hogmanay Street Party returns with dancing in the street to welcome the New Year, at the town's traditional location of the small Sutherland town's central square.

Located in Scotland's North East, the historic seaside town with its cathedral, castle and courthouse, will be lit up to create a backdrop for the Hogmanay celebrations.

The free celebration includes Ceilidh in the Square with the Red Reel Ceilidh Band, a lone piper on the Castle ramparts to welcome in 2017, followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the Cathedral.

Throughout the long weekend there's a range of activities on offer from "Loony Dook" dips in the sea on New Year's day to live music.
