Gales Forecast for Hogmanay Period

Gales have been predicated by the Met Office over the Hogmanay period for the whole of Scotland.

Period Covered: 29th Dec - 31st Dec

"The Met Office is forecasting a very disturbed spell of weather over the next few days, with short periods of damaging winds expected to affect some areas of the UK. Three specific periods of very strong southwesterly winds are expected with potential to lead to disruption. Firstly for Northern Ireland and Scotland winds gusting to 70mph possibly 80mph are forecast for Friday evening and Early Saturday. Secondly for East Anglia, East Midlands and southeast England winds gusting to 70mph during Saturday evening. Thirdly for New Years Eve through Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England with winds gusting to 80mph in places. The public are advised to check their latest forecasts at all times."

Having cancelled the hogmanay celebration in Edinburgh three years ago the Edinburgh organisers have made considerable improvements into the existing infrastructure. Hopefully this will allow the show to go on. Elsewhere construction continues as normal.
